Athletic Facilities
Hilbert College has excellent on-campus athletic facilities that no other Division III private college in Western New York can compete with. Our offerings include: the Hafner Recreation Center for basketball and volleyball, 2 multi-purpose lacrosse/soccer fields, 1 softball diamond and 1 baseball diamond. All fields are located ON CAMPUS which means no additional driving for our student-athletes just to practice or compete. A real home-court advantage!

In 2005, the Hafner Recreation Center was expanded and renovated to accommodate the ever-changing needs of college
Due to the 2005 expansion project, the rec center gained valuable spaces making it an option to host outside events with ease. It now offers an expanded athletic training room, 4 locker rooms (ability to host a double header basketball games), and a team room for pre-game and post-game team meetings and a concession stand to sell food and beverages.
In terms of the Hilbert College athletics department, the staff gained new office areas for all coaches. The Athletic Administration area contains a large conference room with a smart board for classroom teaching and direct TV viewing. All head coaches have their own workspace in a large shared office. Directly outside the office area is a study area for athletes to use in-between classes or when they are waiting for their coaches.

In the summer of 2007, Western New York Flooring Company installed a high-quality 11,000-square-foot Robins Floor system. The Hilbert College men's and women's basketball and volleyball teams compete on the hardwood floor. In the summer of 2012, a drop-down batting cage was installed to allow our baseball and softball teams a year-round training option.
The gymnasium is a perfect place for outside clubs and schools to host a larger event and if interested, please contact our Facilities Coordinator for availability.
Other facilities on campus include two multi-purpose fields (NCAA-compliant soccer field and lacrosse surfaces), a baseball diamond as well as a softball diamond. The varsity playing field was added in the summer of 2007 and upgraded in the summer of 2009 with the installation of an irrigation system. This will allow for solid play the entire fall and spring seasons since the field will maintain a safe playing condition because of the drainage system.

Both the baseball and softball diamonds received some loving care in the summer of 2005 by Great Lakes Athletic Fields company. The baseball field had a complete make-over: new sod was added in the infield, the pitching mound resloped to make the playing surface safer. The softball diamond installed fencing in front of each team's dugout and had the bases realigned making the on-deck area safer for the players.
All athletics fields are maintained by Ed, in our maintenance department, and we are thankful for his diligent work!
