Zitnik Doubles Up for the Hawks In NEAC Loss

KEUKA PARK, NY – After taking a 12-0 lead by half time, the Keuka College Storm beat the Hilbert College Hawks 19-4 in men’s lacrosse April 14. Greg Zitnik {in phototo right} scored twice for the visitors who dropped to 3-2 and hold onto fourth place in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Keuka (3-1) sits in third place after the win.
Keuka’s Chris Redington netted four first half goals (one assist) before senior Eric Russell put the Hawks on the board at 13:44 in the third quarter. The Storm scored four more quick goals by 10:47, to hold a 16-1 advantage. Bill Moleins assisted on the Nick Cavalieri score at 9:09 before Redington started a three-goal spree again for the hosts to end their third period grove. Zitnik earned both his scores in the fourth session (14:44 and 5:00) with an assist by Elliot Russillio. Redington equaled his career high of eight points in the Storm victory.
Keuka finished with 18 more ground balls than the Hawks (40-22), and outshot Hilbert 44-21. Hilbert struggled in the circle, going 5-27 in face-offs. William Wagner made 9 saves in goal for the Hawks.
Hilbert has a week off from competition. Their next game is Sunday, April 22 at SUNYIT before they end with a game against Medaille (site TBA) and at Morrisville (April 28). The NEAC play-off games are set for May 2 (semi-finals) and May 5 (finals). Hilbert must secure a spot in the top four seeds to move into the play-offs.
