HAMBURG, NY - After their first weekend of competition, the Hilbert College men’s lacrosse team received a double honor from the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) March 12. Junior John Pingitore (West Seneca West) was chosen as the NEAC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week and freshman Roland Jimerson (Silver Creek) was named the NEAC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week.

Pingitore opened the season with a goal and two assists to help lead the Hawks to a 22-0 victory over conference rival Penn State Abington March 10. The midfielder followed that up with a game-high five goals in the hard-fought 10-9 defeat to Mt. St. Vincent the next day. He also added three ground balls to his eight-point offensive performance for the weekend.

Jimerson scooped up 12 groundballs and caused one turnover in a pair of contests for the Hawks as they opened the season with a shutout win over conference foe Penn State Abington March 10.  He then added four more groundballs and caused a turnover during the 10-9 loss to Mt. St. Vincent the next afternoon.

Hilbert (1-1) faces Cazenovia College March 22 at 4pm in their second NEAC game before they head to Alfred University March 24 for a non-conference match at 1pm.
