ORCHARD PARK, NY – John Pingitore’s five goals led five Hawks who scored in Hilbert’s 10-9 defeat against Mount Saint Vincent in men’s lacrosse March 11. Hilbert’s third quarter rally made things interesting during the final period but the Dolphins from New York held on to win their third game of the season.
Doug Takac, Pingitore (2), Nick Kieffer and Nick Cavalieri tied the game up 6-6 in a span of two minutes and five seconds in the third quarter. MSV grabbed one more goal with 0:14 seconds left in the third to take a 7-6 lead into the 4th quarter.
Pingitore’s three goals finished the Hawk scoring in the final session which matched MSV’s fourth quarter production as well.
Tyler Catalfano made 9 saves during the contest.
Hilbert outshot the Dolphins (36-29), earned more ground balls (45-37) and won more face-offs (15-8) but had a few more turnovers (9-7).
The Hawks next game is against Cazenovia College (March 22) at 4 pm on the varsity field on campus.
