ORCHARD PARK, NY – In their first outing of the 2012 season, the Hilbert College men’s lacrosse team dominated in a balanced team scoring attack against visiting Penn State Abington, claiming a 22-0 victory on March 10. The Hawks never trailed in the contest and played like seasoned veterans for the entire 60 minute game.

11 different Hawks found the back of the Abington net multiple times, with freshman Nick Cavalieri and junior Greg Zitnik leading the way with four goals each. Cavalieri also added three assists. Sophomore Sean Purtill contributed a hat-trick of his own for the Hawks.

Hilbert held an advantage in every aspect of the game, winning 14 of 22 face-offs and grabbing 71 ground balls. The Hawk defense was stellar, only letting Abington get off five shots for the entire game.

Hilbert seemed to be working as a well-oiled machine from the beginning and seemed to not want to slow down. Every Hawk that dressed for the game saw some time on the playing field, with freshmen Tyler Catalfano and William Wagner splitting time in the net.

The Hawks look to improve their record to 2-0 when the will travel to Orchard Park high school on Sunday, March 11 to host the Dolphins from Mount Saint Vincent at 1pm.
