HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College women’s soccer team continues to improve their record with a 3-0 win over AMCC foe Mount Aloysius on October 8. The Hawks (7-5, 2-2) were powerful on offense, which resulted in three quick goals in the first half. The Mounties couldn’t come back from the deficit after intermission and return home 0-12, 0-5 in league play.
Alyssa Hulbert led the Hawks with two goals and one assist. Hulbert’s first goal was off of a Kayla Norman assist, her other goal was the result of a penalty kick. Norman had the other goal, firing one past the goalie with the helper coming from Hulbert. Mary Zinni was credited with her fourth shutout of the season, making six saves. Hilbert recorded 12 shots for the game, and seven shots on goal.
From the start, the Hawks proved to be the more aggressive team outshooting the visitors 8-4 by half time. The physical play on both ends had Mount Aloysius frustrated, causing them to commit unnecessary fouls towards the end of the match.
The Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday, October 11, where they will host AMCC opponent D’Youville College at 4pm.
