Chili, NY – The University of Rochester men’s cross country program took the team championship at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College September 24. Rochester’s score of 40 bettered second place Mercyhurst by 26 point. The remaining ten teams all finished with over 100 points. The Hilbert College’s men’s team finished in 14th place after earning 363 points.

The men’s individual winner was Bryan Picciotto from Roberts Wesleyan who finished the 8K course in 26:35 just one second ahead of teammate Mathew Hussey. Rochester capture four of the top ten quickest time slots (third, sixth, ninth and tenth places) giving them such a low team score.

Hilbert’s top runner was John Sadowski who completed the course in 37:38 (105th place). Not far behind him were his teammates Leonard Messina (39:23) and Pat Lagueras (41:56).  Stephen Crane (55:08) and Paul Coleman (2:12:30) completed the Hawk runners who scored.

On the women’s side of the race, Roberts Wesleyan captured their own event with an incredibly low score of 22. The University of Rochester came in second (56) followed by fellow AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend (84). The remaining ten teams all scored over 100 points with Hilbert finishing in 12th place scoring 384.

All five of Robert’s scoring athletes finished in the top 10 slots (first, second, third, sixth and tenth). Sarah Krolick completed the 5K in 18:52 seconds ahead of teammates Rachel Putsman and Kimberly Mills.    Hilbert’s top finisher was Maria Linares who ran a 24:40 (109th place). Helping the Hawks were Sarah Schmidt (27:28), Amber Bailey (28:32), Maria DelMonico (28:33) and Mary Zinni (28:37).
