ALTOONA, PA – Megan Van Norman’s first season goal knotted the game by half time, but the Hawks couldn’t hold Altoona’s offensive attack in-check, as Hilbert dropped a 3-1 loss in women’s soccer October 13.
Theresa Deppenschmidt connected at 14:49 to open the match. At 42:46, Robbi Bailey served the ball to Van Norman, who lifted it over Altoona’s Mackenzie Strubhar evening the score at 1-1 by intermission. Just two minutes into the second period, Anne Valiando riffled a shot into the right side of the frame in what turned out to be the game winner. Altoona scored one more time with just under three minutes left in the match as they improved to 2-5 in AMCC play.
Hilbert’s Erin Smith faced a lopsided number of shots (21-3) and she was credited with 7 saves in the Hawks loss.
Hilbert (2-10-1, 0-5-1) travels to Riverside High School October 16th when they face D’Youville College at 7pm.
