Hilbert College

When students apply for admissions and financial aid at Hilbert to our traditional undergraduate programs, they are automatically considered for the scholarships listed below. Some are based strictly on grade point average, or high school gpa. Others consider special qualities or areas of interest. During the financial aid award process, you will be considered for applicable scholarships and grants on a time sensitive basis. As a result, there is no need for a separate application, however, there is an advantage to apply for admissions and financial aid early.

ADP (Accelerated degree/evening students) are not eligible for these traditional undergraduate scholarship programs.

Freshmen Scholarships awarded by Admissions

1. The $5,000 ANNUAL PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP is awarded by the Office of Admissions to ALL high school senior(s) who have achieved a scholastic average of 90 or higher in a college preparatory curriculum in high school. The scholarship is renewable on an annual basis if the student maintains a minimum 3.00 quality-point-average.
2. A $2,500 ANNUAL ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded by the Office of Admissions to ALL high school senior(s) who have achieved an academic average of 85 or higher in a Regent's-level course of study. The student must maintain a grade-point-average of 3.00 to continue to receive the scholarship.
3. A $1,250 ANNUAL DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to full-time students of diverse backgrounds attending college for the first time who have acheived a high school average of 80 or higher in a college preparatory curriculum. It is renewable if good academic status is maintained.  This award can be combined with other merit-based scholarships. 
4. A $1,500 ANNUAL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to ALL high school senior(s) who have attended a Catholic High School and have achieved a scholastic average of 80 or higher in a college preparatory curriculum in high school.  It is renewable if good academic status is maintained. 
5. A $2,000 BOCES ARTICULATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to students who have completed a program pre-approved by Hilbert College.
6. A $2,000 HIGH SCHOOL ARTICULATION SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to students who have completed courses approved at Hilbert College at certain area high schools.
7. A $1,000 SIBLING DISCOUNT is awarded to the second sibling who attends simultaneously and both are enrolled fulltime.
8. A $1,000 HILBERT COLLEGE ALUMNI GRANT is awarded to dependent children of Hilbert College graduates (Bachelor or Associate) who register full-time in a matriculated program at Hilbert College. It is renewable each year if fulltime registration status and satisfactory academic progress are maintained.
9. Transfer Students that have been out of high school for no more than a year with less than 36 credit hours may also be elgible for the freshman scholarships listed above.

Transfer Scholarships awarded by Admissions

1. A $2,500 ANNUAL Transfer Articulation Scholarship is awarded to transfer student(s) who have or on track to complete their associate's degree at one of the community colleges Hilbert College has an articulation agreement with.  They must attend Hilbert full time and have completed their associates degree or are on track to finish their associates degree by their first semester at Hilbert College to remain eligible for the scholarship. . 
2. A $6,000 ANNUAL HONORS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to student(s) who are transferring from a four year accredited, non-articulating college.  Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and at least 12 credit hours completed or on track to be completed before attending Hilbert.  Students must attend full time to be eligible.
3. A $3,000 ANNUAL HILBERT SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to student(s) transferring from a four year accredited, non-articulating college.  Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and at least 12 credit hours  completed or on track to be completed before attending Hilbert.  They must attend Hilbert College full time.
4. A $2,500 ANNUAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to student(s) transferring from a non-articulating community college.   Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and more than 12 credit hours completed or be on track to complete 12 credits before attending Hilbert.  They must attend Hilbert College full time.  

Adult Learner Scholarships

1. The Josephine Goodyear Scholarship is awarded to a female adult student with financial need.
2. The Lambert & Margaret Graham Scholarship is awarded to a full-time adult student with financial need and who demonstrates academic progress.
3. The William Randolph Hearst Scholarship is awarded to adult women students.
4. The Cameron Baird Scholarship is awarded to an adult female residing in Western New York’s Southtowns.
5. Virginia Weiss Memorial is awarded to an adult student in financial need.

 
Degree Program Scholarships

Ethnic-Related Scholarships

1. The Goya Foods Great Lakes Scholarship is awarded to minority students.
2. A Diversity Scholarship is awarded to full-time students of diverse backgrounds attending college for the first time who have acheived a high school average of 80 or better in a college preparatory curriculum.. It is renewable if good academic status is maintained. This award can be combined with other merit-based scholarships.
3. David S. Kielar Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student of Polish heritage, Business major, who comes from a large family, with financial need. 
4. The Dr. and Mrs. Robert Pantera Scholarship is awarded to a student of Polish heritage who is in financial need.
5. Edward and Harriet Reska Scholarship is awarded to a student of Polish heritage with average grades.
6. The Stanley P. Szymanski Scholarship is awarded to a student of Polish heritage in financial need.

 Female Student Scholarships

1. The Sister Mary Edwina Bogel Scholarship is awarded to a female student with academic potential.
2. William Randolph Heart Foundation Scholarship is granted to adult women students.
3. Elizabeth Prezyna Endowed Scholarship is awarded annually to a female student at Hilbert College who exhibits leadership characteristics and is enrolled in a program leading to a Bachelor‘s degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
4. The Barbara Wicks Scholarship is awarded by the Hamburg Women’s Democratic Club to a female student with financial need who is a resident of Hamburg, N.Y.
5. Joanne Miller Zane Endowed Fund is awarded to a female first generation college student.

 Freshmen Scholarships

For a complete list of Hilbert scholarships available to incoming freshmen, contact the Office of Student Finance or stop by to see a financial aid counselor. Some of the scholarships are the:

1. Sgt. Martin F. Bogdanowicz Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a veteran or child of a veteran.
2. Child of Alumni Grant is awarded by the Office of Admissions to dependent children of Hilbert alumni who register full-time in a matriculated program at the college. The annual scholarship is renewable if full-time status and satisfactory academic progress is maintained.
3. The Gacioch Endowed Fund is awarded to an incoming freshman with financial need.  Student should maintain a 2.0 grade point average and be actively involved in community service.  Student should exhibit Franciscan values by volunteering or being a member of college or community groups
4. Florence Hafner Emmert & Cecilia Hafner Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman with financial need. It is renewable for the second year.
5. Heraty Family Scholarship is awarded to a first generation college student. Preference is assigned to business majors.
6. Hilbert College Leadership Scholarship and the M &T Leadership Scholarship are awarded by the Office of Student Life to a high school senior who has demonstrated active participation in student government, club activities, or community groups. The student must have a minimum academic average of 80 in a Regent’s course of study. It is renewable based on active participation in college activities and good academic status.
7. Hilbert College Scholarship is awarded by Hamburg High School to a graduating senior. A college scholarship is also awarded by Eden High School to a graduating senior.
8. John F. Kissel Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshman residing in the residence hall. It is renewable if satisfactory grades and resident status are maintained.
9. The Magdeline and John Hayman Scholarship is awarded to a middle-income student enrolled in any Hilbert degree pro gram who has demonstrated a potential to succeed academically and who has shown a commitment to service to community, church and/or school. The scholarship is renewable provided that the student remains in good academic standing. Eligibility will be determined by the Office of Student Finance.
10. The Jocelyn R. Hughes Academic Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who demonstrates above average academic performance.
11. The HSBC Scholarship is awarded to students in accounting, business administration and economic crime investigation who have excelled academically.
12. Thomas & Rose Notaro Scholarship is awarded by Immaculata Academy to a graduating senior.
13. Ray Walter Scholarship is awarded to a student involved in community service.
14. Univera Health Systems/Excellus is awarded to an incoming freshmen based upon need.
15. Maurice Emerling Endowed Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshmen based upon need.

Other
Many foundations, service clubs, businesses, and other organizations offer an array of student scholarships. Many of the lesser known scholarships are targeted to a smaller population, such as to children of employees of a specific company or organization. Applicants are competing against a smaller pool, therefore enhancing their chances of receiving a scholarship.

The Doris and Robert Drago Scholarship is awarded to a first generation, full time, sophomore student who maintains a 3.0 grade point average.  Student should participate in SIFE or SGA.
