Digital Media and Communication

 

 Center for Creative Media

After completing only one course, the DMAC student has full access to the equipment in Hilbert College's Center for Creative Media. The Center has three High Definition video editing suites, an iMac computer lab, and a dedicated Audio recording suite. Classes are also taught in a Mac lab equipped with 24 iMac computers. Available are professional quality HD digital video cameras and DSLR cameras, digital audio recorders, various levels of tripods and lighting kits as well as a Stedicam system. All of the equipment is available for overnight checkout by DMAC students. The Center for Creative Media is solely dedicated to DMAC students and is accessible at all hours by request. All video edit suites are equipped with the newest Adobe Production Premium and Design Premium applications including Premier, After Effects and Photoshop. Video camera capabilities range from Full HD1080p to Standard definition 480i, and most cameras are 24p capable as well. We have also recently added a line of Canon 7D HDSLR cameras for filmmaking purposes. Take a look at student work on the department's Youtube page and like the department's Facebook page. The Digital Media and Communication Program provides students with both the academic knowledge and practical experience to pursue a variety of careers within the ever-growing and dynamic area of communication. Students are not only given the necessary foundational and theoretical knowledge through a set of core courses, but they are also able to gain hands-on experience through a variety of internship opportunities and capstone courses.
