Hawks Shoot Down The Lakers

HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College women’s volleyball team beat SUNY Oswego 3-1 in a vibrant match on October 12.  The Hawks (5-11, 1-4) won the first  set 25-20 but the Lakers answered back, winning the second set 25-23.  With some intense volleys back and forth early in the third set, the match was  up in the air until Hilbert put the game away for good (25-18)  The fourth set found Hilbert scoring several points and making runs from service aces (25-14). 

Junior Rachel Kwiatkowski had a strong defensive outing, leading the Hawks with 24 digs, while adding six kills (.333%) on offense.  Sophomore Shannon Memminger had a stellar performance, tallying 28 assists and three kills on offense and having 11 digs on defense.  Junior Chelsea Reischuck had a banner night offensively as well, connecting 10 kills for Hilbert on 39 attacks.  Freshman Kayla Lewis also chipped in with eight kills and 21 digs for the night for the Hawks.

The Hawks will be on the road October 15, where they will travel to Grove City for a tri-match against Thomas More University, and Grove City College.  Hilbert will be home again on October 18, when they will host AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford at 7pm.
