Hawks Handle Saxons in Four Games
HAMBURG, NY – Freshman Morgan Oay-Walker (Jamestown, NY/Cassadaga Valley) came up with 15 digs and the Hilbert College women’s volleyball team topped Alfred University 3-1 Thursday night. In picking up their first win of the 2006 season the Hawks improve to 1-5 while the visiting Saxons fall to 1-7.
The Hawks took the first game 30-18 before the Saxons battled back to win game two 31-29. Hilbert took game three 30-18 and finished the night with a 30-15 win in game four.
Hilbert’s Kristy Gonciarz (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) and Laura Stranc (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) combined for 23 kills on the night while Stranc also dished out 13 assists.
Hilbert hits the road this weekend to compete in the Westminster College tournament on Friday and Saturday.
