Hawks Women's Volleyball Team Drops Season Opener

HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Hilbert College women’s volleyball team lost its season opener to Thiel College 3-0 (30-22, 30-19, 30-27) Thursday at the Hafner Recreation Center.  The Hawks rallied several times throughout the night, but couldn't overcome the size and strength of the visiting Tomcats.


Amanda Ellis (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) led the Hawks with 18 assists and three aces in the losing effort, while teammate Jamie O’Connor (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) paced Hilbert in kills with 7.  Lynn Workman (Newfane,NY/Newfane) also had three aces, as well as a team-high 14 digs.

The Hawks return to action at 1 p.m. Sept. 11 in a home match against SUNYIT.
