Basketball Teams Participate in Tournaments This Weekend

HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College men’s and women’s basketball teams square off this weekend in annual tournaments November 18 and November 19.
The men’s team is hosting their second annual Tip Off Tournament while the women travel to Buffalo State to participate in the 23rd annual Betty Abgott Tournament.
In Hamburg, Clarkson University (1-0) will compete against Utica College (0-1) at 6pm in the Hafner Recreation Center. Clarkson captured an 86-69 victory over Paul Smith College while Utica dropped a 72-67 game to Potsdam earlier this week.
Hilbert (0-1) hosts Keuka College (0-1) at 8pm in a rematch of last year’s Tip Off consolation game. Hilbert suffered a 77-76 last-second defeat to Nazareth College this week and Keuka was beaten (67-49) by Canton.
The consolation game will be played November 19 at 2pm with the championship match at 4pm.
The daily general admission charge is $5. Hilbert College faculty, children 12 and under and students with a Hilbert College ID will be admitted free of charge.
In north Buffalo, Alfred University (1-0) squares off against Hamilton College (in the Continentals’ opening game of the season) at 5pm in the Sports Arena. The Hawks (0-1) will play Buffalo State (1-0) at 7pm November 18. Those who would like to follow the game via LIVE STATS, (click here)
Alfred took a 76-58 win from Penn State DeBois, Hilbert dropped a 67-51 loss at Wells and Buffalo State beat AMCC-foe D’Youville College (70-41) - all games were played November 15.
The consolation and championship games will be held November 19 with a 12 noon and 2pm tip.
