HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College women’s soccer team lost to AMCC opponent Penn State Altoona (6-0) October 22. Hilbert (7-9, 2-6) could not keep up with the strong offensive pressures from the Lions (11-4-2, 7-0-1). In an intense and physical game from start to finish, the Hawks played their last home contest with the seniors: Mary Zinni, Alyssa Hulbert, Kayla Norman, Julie Bossard, Jill Martucci, and Jess Roland-Bystrak.
With the game's first goal coming late in the first period, it appeared as if it would be an even contest. But Altoona turned up the pressure after intermission and Hilbert never gained control the remainder of the contest as Altoona scored five second-half goals. In total, six different players for the Lions netted scores, and three players tallied assists. Mary Zinni recorded 12 saves for Hilbert.
The Hawks will finish their season on the road against AMCC challenger Medaille College Tuesday, October 25. The game is being played at All-High Stadium at 8pm.
