Hamburg, NY – The first semester is on the books for the Hilbert College women’s basketball team  after they completed their December 17th home game against Nazareth College.   The visiting Golden Flyers took off running after the tip, and coasted to a 68-40 victory. Hilbert (1-8) takes a few weeks for the Christmas holiday and rests up for a tough second semester AMCC league schedule.

Nazareth’s Ashley Gallagher led all scorers with 14 points, but Hilbert’s Julie Bossard (Arkport, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) earned her third double-double striking for 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Magan Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Bennett) was the only other player to net double digits with 10 points.

The Golden Flyers finished the game with 25 assists and shot 44% from the floor. Hilbert won the battle of the boards (41-37) and out-rebounded Nazareth by 5 on the offensive end. Hilbert’s 27% field goal and 57% free throw shooting percentages once again hindered their success.

The Hawks have a few weeks off to regroup before they begin practicing again January 3rd. Up right after their return is a road game at Medaille College on Wednesday, January 5th with a 6 pm tip.
