Hamburg, NY - The Hilbert women’s volleyball season ended October 30 in a (3-1) loss to Penn State Altoona. Hilbert  honored Amanda Dudek (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda) and Carole Jones (Bliss, NY/Letchworth) {in photo to right}  in their senior day as a women’s volleyball player in a brief pregame ceremony. 

After the Lions took the first 2 sets, the Hawks came back and won set 3 (25-13) and almost grabbed set 4 (21-25) to force a 5th and final set.    The Lions finish their season with a win heading into play-offs as the number 2 seed in the 6-team AMCC tourney and the Hawks’  end their season 2-7, 6-18 overall.

Jones finished her career with a 10 kill, 15 dig and 1 service ace performance. Dudek come through again on the defensive end with a team leading 19 digs. Freshman Shannon Memminger (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) distributed 24 assists and served 5 aces.

The Hawks will miss the dedication and leadership that both Jones and Dudek brought to the team.
