Myrtle Beach, SC – Morrisville State took a 6-2 victory over Hilbert College March 16 in the rematch of a game played only two days earlier in the Field of Dreams softball tournament. Hilbert (1-5) came off a big win the night before (11-1 win) only to struggle to get their bats to connect with the softball and fell behind 4-1 after the 3rd inning. Each team scored one more run in the 5th, but Hilbert went scoreless in the bottom of the 6th, then stranded 2 runners in the bottom of the 7th to end the game.

Allison Hall (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda) and Amber Grosch (Depew, NY/Depew) each went 2 for 3 scoring the two Hawk runs. Emily Ripley (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame Catholic) was credited for the solo RBI while Devan Jonathan (Basom, NY/Akron) took the loss on the mound.

Morrisville went 6 for 25 with three different players hitting home runs. Amber Nichilo’s 3-run home run in the 3rd inning was the deciding hit to separate the teams.
