The Hilbert College softball team dropped a pair of games to The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg by scores of 16-1 and 13-2. The Hawks record falls to 4-23 overall and 0-12 in AMCC play.
In game 1, the Hawks trailed 15-0 after 2.5 innings. The lone Hilbert run was scored on a Sarah Collins (Milroy, PA/Indian Valley) sacrifice fly that scored Dale Johnathan (Tonawanda Indian Reservation/Akron)
In game 2, the Hawks trailed 5-0 after three innings. Two Hilbert runners crossed the plate, as Rachel Parker (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) led off the fourth inning with a solo home run. Kelly Goodwin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) connected on an RBI single that scored Carrie Sisson (Elma, NY/Mt. Mercy).
Greensburg broke the game wide open with an eight run fifth inning to take a 13-2 lead. Hilbert could not score in the bottom of the fifth and the ballgame was over.
The Hawks host Mt. Aloysius College April 19.
