The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) released its 2009 Softball Preseason Polls. The Hawks were picked to finish 9th out of 10 teams.
Kerry Levett returns for her third season at the helm of the Hilbert softball team. 2008 First Team All-Conference selection Rachel Parker (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) will look to stay red hot in her junior season. In 2008, Parker hit .424 with 17 doubles, 3 home runs and 31 RBIs. Senior Kelly Goodwin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) returns at shortstop for the Hawks but also as the emotional leader. In 2008 Goodwin hit .421 with 24 RBIs. While starting all 36 games for the Hawks last season, Goodwin also posted a .545 slugging percentage, and a .454 on base percentage.
The Hilbert softball team will look to their returning experience as well as an influx of youth to try and make some noise in the AMCC in 2009.
