HAMBURG, NY - Kerry Levett has been named the new head softball coach at Hilbert College, announced director of athletics Richard Walsh. Levett served as the program’s assistant in 2006 and has been on campus since 2004 as the director of residence life.

In her lone season as an assistant under head coach Bill Goc, Levett helped the Hawks to an 8-23 overall record and a 4-12 mark in the highly competitive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).

“Kerry excelled on the field and academically as an undergraduate”, said Walsh. “That background as well as her involvement with our softball program last spring has everyone excited about the upcoming season”.

A 1990 graduate of Westminster College in Pennsylvania, Levett helped the Titans to four consecutive President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) playoff appearances before earning a degree in Christian Education, with cum laude honors. She was a four-time All-District team selection and was named to the All-District Academic team twice. In 1990 the team captain and GTE Academic All American was selected as an All-American Honorable Mention selection.

After playing in the Western Pennsylvania Women’s Fast-Pitch League, Levett has held youth coaching and instructing positions in Nebraska and Arizona while also working at the US Olympic Festival in Colorado in 1995.

“I am very excited to be coaching the women’s softball team at Hilbert College”, said Levett. “I am looking forward to the continued development of our returning student-athletes while integrating new players into our program. We anticipate an exciting season built on a foundation of good preparation”.

Levett holds a master’s degree in Education from the University of Colorado and received certification from the American Sports Education Program in 1996. She is currently working on a Doctorate of Education in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University.

Hilbert College is scheduled to open the 2007 season on March 20th at Nazareth College. Levett hopes to improve upon last spring’s ninth place finish in the AMCC and makes her home debut on March 24th against conference foe Mount Aloysius College.
