Women’s Soccer Caged by Mounties

Cresson, PA – The Hilbert women’s soccer team gave up an early goal to the Mount Aloysius Mounties in their 0-1 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss on Saturday, October 9th. The Mounties scored the lone goal in the first 5 minutes of the game when Emily Burget pushed one past Mary Zinni (Batavia, NY/Batavia). The Hawks fall to 4-8 overall all and 1-3 in the AMCC while Mount Aloysius moves to 3-9 and 2-3 in league standings.
Despite outshooting the Mounties 15-7, the Hawks could not find the back of the net. First year forwards Sarah Schmidt (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) and Robbi Bailey (Saranac, NY/Saranac) each had 4 shots on goal and junior midfielder Julie Bossard (Arkport, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) added 3 shots. The Mounties goalkeeper made 6 saves and earned her first shutout of the year. Zinni, the Hawks junior goalkeeper, made 4 saves in the losing effort.
