Hamburg, NY – The Hilbert women’s soccer team hosted Franciscan University on Saturday, October 2 in their second
Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game of the season. The Barons took away a 1-0 victory earning their first AMCC win of the year dropping the Hawks to a 1-1 conference record. Franciscan outshot the Hawks 11-6 in the first half and Anna Lancour opened the scoring in the 39th minute off a deflection set up by a direct kick. Despite controlling the second half of play and swing the shot total in their favor, the Hawks could not tie the game. Statistically, the game was even with 20 shots by both squads and 11 saves for both keepers. The Hawks fall to 4-6 as the Barons move to 3-5-1.
Hilbert plays their next three conference games on the road (Bradford, Mount Aloysius, and D’Youville) before they come home to host La Roche College on Saturday, October 16th at 1pm.
