The Hilbert College women’s soccer team fell at Franciscan University 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss the hawks fall to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in AMCC play.
The Hawks took a 2-1 lead in to the half as senior Tricia Knight (Sardinia, NY/Pioneer) scored on a header off a corner kick by freshman Alyssa Hulbert (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East). Knight’s goal was her third on the season, while Hulbert’s assist was her fourth helper. The Hawks second goal was tallied by junior Courtney DeVille (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West).
Senior Kelly Goodwin (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) got the start in net for Hilbert.
“I think the drive got the best of us,” said head coach Jamie Ruggiero. “We did not seem to have any legs in the second half and that cost us.”
The Hawks return to action Sept. 21, at 1 p.m., when Hilbert travels to Hiram College.
