ERIE, PA – The Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) women’s cross country team cruised to a first place finish at the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Saturday as the Spartans placed five runners in the top seven. Hilbert College finished in 12th place (318) ahead of an incomplete Medaille College team.
CWRU’s Esther Erb covered the 3.1 mile course in 18:18 to lead the field of 105 runners. Sue Devlin (Hamburg, NY/Lake Shore) was the top Hilbert finisher on the day with a time of 24:46. The senior finished in 46th place followed by teammate Amanda Phillips (Buffalo, NY/Cleveland Hill) who was 47th with a time of 24:56.
The Spartans score of 21 was followed by second place Mount Union College (58) and a third place finish by Grove City College (73).
The Hilbert College women’s cross country team will compete at the University of Buffalo Stampede on Saturday, September 23rd at 11:00 am.
