Bradford, PA – Sophomore Amber Grosch (Depew, NY/Depew) scored a career-high 21 points and matched her career-high 11 rebounds in Hilbert’s 75-46 AMCC loss to Pitt-Bradford’s women’s basketball team February 16. Bradford’s Ashley Seidenstricker led three Panthers in double-digit scoring with 18 points. It was truly a team-effort for the Hawks in their road game as all six players contributed with 29 minutes or more in the contest. Bradford improves to 12-5 (14-8) and has a firm hold on fourth place in the conference standings preparing to host the first round of league play offs. Hilbert drops to0-17 (1-22).
The first half was a back and forth affair early in the game with Bradford holding the upper edge. With 3:47 left to go, the Panthers hit a ten-point spread and never relinquished their advantage the rest of the way. The Hawks battled as best they could grabbing 11 offensive rebounds in a 44-36 rebounding disadvantage. Bradford shot forty-two percent from the floor and had 20 steals with eleven different players finding the scoring column.
Junior Julie Bossard (Arkport, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) earned another double-double (double tens) and Sara Graves (Retsof, NY/York) hit for nine points. Shavonne Walton (Buffalo, NY/Lackawanna) and Raven Jones (Rochester, NY/Rush Henrietta) each netted three to cap the scoring for the Hawks.
Hilbert travels to Penn State Altoona February 19 to complete their 2010-2011 season.
