PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) released the All-Sportsmanship Team for the 2009-10 winter sports teams. Two student-athletes from Hilbert College are being recognized for their abilities on and off the field of play. AMCC Commissioner Donna Ledwin initiated this program during the 2007-08 academic year to complement the “Be Loud, Be Proud, BE POSITIVE” sportsmanship program originated by the AMCC. Since its inception, the NCAA has begun to use the same tag-line in its publicity materials and it is now accepted as the DivIIICA (Division III Commissioners Association) Fan Sportsmanship Program.
All AMCC institution sport teams may select one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-Sportsmanship Team. These individuals are selected by the team members. The student-athlete selected must consistently demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct, respect and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. He/She must also serve as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams’ sporting events.
Hilbert College men’s basketball team members chose junior college transfer Cody Troutman (South Dayton, NY/Pine Valley/JCC) as their team’s Sportsmanship Award winner. And sophomore Julie Bossard (Arkport, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) was the women’s basketball representative.
“These students embody all the qualities we want in our student-athletes,” said athletic director Richard Walsh. “They are fine representatives of the college both on and off the athletic field. We are very proud of their recognition for these qualities.”
Also announced were the All Conference teams for both the men's and women's leagues. To see a complete list of teams follow these links: men's all conference women's all conference
