Women's Hoops Team Beats Spartans

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women’s basketball team defeated local rival D’Youville College 61-48 Tuesday night in an important North Eastern Athletic Conference match-up.

Lynn Workman (Newfane/Newfane, NY) scored 16 points, including five three-pointers, to lead the Hawks in the win. Kristen Curry (Wilson/Ransomville, NY) added 10 points, while Autumn Lee-Jeffries (Holy Angels/Buffalo, NY) grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked five shots.

Hilbert led 30-28 at halftime and then limited the Spartans to 19 percent shooting from the field in the second half.

Tracey Travis scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead D’Youville, while Heather Russell added 10 points.

Hilbert (7-9, 2-2 NEAC) will host NEAC rival Keuka College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
