Women’s Basketball Team Wins over Lake Erie

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Hilbert College used a balanced scoring attack and a stingy defense to cruise to a 52-33 victory over host Lake Erie College in women’s college basketball action on Monday night.
Autumn Lee-Jeffries (Holy Angels/Buffalo, NY) scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds, and recorded three steals to lead the Hawks. Natalie Samuelson (Jamestown/Jamestown, NY) added nine points and seven rebounds, while Kristen Curry (Wilson/Ransomville, NY) chipped in with eight points.
Hilbert’s defense allowed the Storm to make only four of 24 field goal attempts in the first half on their way to a 30-13 halftime lead. The Hawks forced 36 Lake Erie turnovers on the night.
Chenita Sumlin scored 14 points to lead Lake Erie, while Amanda Bray added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Hilbert (5-7, 1-0 NEAC) will return to conference play at 1 p.m. Jan. 17 when they host Cazenovia College.
