HC Women’s Hoop Team Wins Key Bank Consolation Game

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Amanda Smolarek (Villa Maria/Lancaster, NY) scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds Saturday to lead the Hilbert Collge women’s basketball team to a 66-60 win over D’Youville College. Smolarek was named to the Key Bank Classic all-tournament team for her efforts over the two-day tournament.
Hilbert’s Kristen Curry (Wilson/Ransomeville, NY) led all scorers with 16 points and had a team high four steals in the win (1-1).
The Lady Hawks fell 62-55 to SUNY Geneseo Friday night after being tied at 52 with just over 2 minutes to play. Smolarek poured in 12 points and grabbed 12 boards while teammate Autumn Lee-Jeffries (Holy Angels/Buffalo, NY) had 10 points and seven boards in a losing effort.
The Hawks face Alfred University at 5 p.m. Nov. 25 in their home opener.
