Hawks Win the Blocking Battle vs. Behrend

HAMBURG, NY – Fred Sickau and Scott Ross led the Hilbert charge at the net with 9 kills each but Penn State Behrend took a 3-0 non-league victory in men’s volleyball April 4. The Hawks, playing their second day without Adam Weaver, continue to find ways to fill the gap of his absence. Different players are stepping up but just couldn’t put the game away when they had their chances.
Behrend finished the match hitting .312 percentage with 40 team kills. Hilbert struck for 28 kills but gave away 7 points on service errors. Hilbert earned 7.5 blocks at the net out playing Behrend by 1.5.
David Mellerski set for 20 assists and added 11 digs. Ryan Ratatjczak led with a game-high 15 digs. Anthony Blasz tossed in 5 kills and one solo block while Andrew Duncan posted 2 kills (no errors) and 2 solo blocks. Adam Clabo contributed 5 digs along the way.
Ty Sheehan led the Lions with 11 kills, while Josh Oertly finished with .545 hitting percentage (7 kill/11 attempts). Evan Fullerton led with 26 assists and he split duties with Colin Ingram (10 assists).
The Hawks finish out their season this coming Tuesday, April 9th when they honor their four seniors prior to the non-conference game against Thiel College.
