Hawks Defeat SUNYIT; Fall To D'Youville

The Hilbert College men’s volleyball team went 1-1 on Saturday (January 31, 2008). The Hawk’s record now stands at 3-2. The Hawks squared off against SUNYIT and D’Youville College at the Hafner Center. The Hawks downed SUNYIT 3-0 (30-23, 30-25, 30-25). D’Youville bested the Hawks 3-0 (30-20, 30-22, 30-25).
Against SUNYIT senior Robert Gerhard (Angola, NY/Lakeshore) led Hilbert with 12 kills. Gerhard also recorded 10 digs for the Hawks. Freshman Vincent Amico (Buffalo, NY/Timon) fueled Hilbert’s offense with 32 assists. Sophomore Dan Wolf chipped in with 11 kills and eight digs.
In the D’Youville match, Gerhard led the Hawks with eight kills. Wolf added seven kills and seven digs. Amico recorded 21 assists to lead Hilbert offensively.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday February 4, at 7:00 pm against Nazareth College at the Hafner Center.
