Volleyball Hawks fall to nationally ranked Golden Flyers

HAMBURG, NY – Nazareth College spoiled the Hilbert College men’s volleyball senior night by turning in a 3-0 (30-17, 30-21, 30-24) win on Wednesday at the Hafner Recreation Center. The sixth ranked Golden Flyers dropped the Hawks to 1-13 on the season and 1-7 in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) West Division.
Hilbert was led by the strong play of senior setter Kevin Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon) who dished out a team-best 18 assists and had one solo block. Fellow senior Luke Whelan (Buffalo, NY/Lake Shore) chipped in with two solo blocks while junior Robert Gerhard (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) added 10 kills and two solo blocks on the night.
The Hawks will appear in the NECVA West Division crossover match at SUNYIT on Saturday, March 29th.
