Hawks, Walker pick up first win

HAMBURG, NY- The Hilbert College men’s volleyball team held off SUNY Institute of Technology to win their first match of the season, and give first-year coach Andy Walker his first collegiate win. Hilbert (1-7, 1-4) took SUNYIT (3-7, 1-5) to five games (25-30, 30-19, 30-18, 27-30, 15-11) as the Hawks played one of their most complete matches of the season.
Senior Robert Gerhard (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) led the Hawks with a team high 22 kills and 14 digs while fellow senior Kevin Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon) contributed 39 assists on the night.
The Hawks look for their next win when they travel to Villa Julie College on Friday February 29th.
