Men's Volleyball Drops Season Opener

BUFFALO, NY -- The Hilbert College men’s volleyball team opened the 2005 season on Tuesday at perennial power Medaille College, and dropped all three sets, 30-16, 30-16, 30-16.  The victory improves the Mavericks record to 3-1 overall, while Hilbert falls to 0-1.

 

Robert Gerhard (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) led the Hawks offensively with seven kills and also had two blocks.  Senior setter Tom Cone (Rapid City, SD/Lincoln) added 12 assists, while Luke Whelan (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) contributed with five kills and three blocks.

 

The Hawks will look for their first victory of the season on Saturday, January 29th in a tri-match at Nazareth College.  They will face both Philadelphia Biblical University and Nazareth College on that day, and match times are to be determined.
