HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College men’s basketball team is heading into their 2011-2012 season after a great 95-46 exhibition win versus Durham College of Ontario, Canada November 12.  The Hawks started out on a 8-0 run and never looked back, not once losing the lead  the rest of the game.

Hilbert played excellent defense and executed nicely on offense as well, a plus for any team playing in their first contest. Five of Hilbert’s players scored in double digits, with senior Chris Hoak leading all scorers with 17. Junior Dan McFarland was right behind with 14 points, and fellow senior Chris Parrott contributed 12 points and eight boards. In their debut outing for the Hawks, freshmen Trevor Stark and Rob Cuomo {in photo to right} each contributed 12 points.

Durham traveled to Hilbert, already having nine games behind them. The Lord’s struggled to keep up with the intensity of the Hawks defense, and their only bright spots came from Tyler McGarrity and Lawrence McNeil, who each had 10 points.

Hilbert will travel to Nazareth College on November 15 before returning to the Hafner Recreation Center to host their annual Tip-Off Tournament on November 18 and 19. In the first round games, Clarkson University will play Utica College at 6pm, and the Hawks are slated to play Keuka at 8pm on Friday, November 18.
