WEBSTER, NY - Hilbert’s Pat Lagueras (Rochester, NY/Charles Finney) opened up the scoring when he stole home in the bottom of the second inning, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead over RIT March 22. The Tigers clawed back in the third to take control of the score, but didn’t completely own the game until the bottom of the 6th inning after grabbing a 6-1 lead. RIT (4-8) scored 11 runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings en route to a 14-6 victory over the visiting Hawks at the Field of Dreams Park. Hilbert limited RIT to just seven hits, but gave up 11 walks for the day.

Junior Jim Pernick (Tonawanda, NY/St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute) led the Hawks attack with 3 RBI’s and junior Matt Militello (Depew, NY/Lancaster) went 2 for 4 at the plate and made a spectacular diving catch in center field in the seventh inning. Hilbert went through four pitchers with sophomore Ed Sarcione (Eden, NY/Eden) leading the charge early with six solid innings.

Hilbert (1-8) will open up the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) portion of their schedule when they travel to Mount Aloysius College March 26 for a double header beginning at 1pm.
