Hilbert’s Adam Weaver Named Rookie of Week in UVC

Hamburg, NY - With the men’s volleyball season just beginning, the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) announced
their weekly awards winners January 24th. Hilbert College’s Adam Weaver (Stow, OH/Archbishop Hoban) was named the Rookie of the Week and Kevin Stross (SUNY New Paltz) was announced as the Player of the Week.
Weaver opened his collegiate career with 58 kills (4.1 per set) and a hitting percentage of .306 in four matches for the Hawks. The Outside Hitter added 18 digs and two service aces when Hilbert opened their season at the SUNYIT tournament.
Stross led New Paltz to a 3-2 record with team-highs of 47 kills and 15 total blocks against four nationally ranked teams. The junior Middle Blocker earned all-tournament honors at the annual Hawks Tournament over the weekend with key victories over MIT and Baruch.
The UVC is a newly formed men’s volleyball conference comprised of nine inaugural member institutions that are committed first and foremost to the pursuit of academic excellence. Through spirited and sportsmanlike participation, appropriately conducted athletics competition supports each institution’s educational mission and is important to the overall development of their student-athletes.
Hilbert College, located in suburban Hamburg, N.Y., south of Buffalo, is a private four-year college founded in 1957 in the Catholic Franciscan tradition.
