Greensburg, PA – Roman Brown (Buffalo, NY/South Park) led Hilbert in scoring with 12 points in the Hawks 80-65 road loss to the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg December 11th. David Palmer from Greensburg led all scorers/rebounders with 22 points/11 rebounds as the Bobcats used a huge early second half run to earn their first conference victory.
Greensburg (3-5, 1-3) held a one point advantage at intermission (38-37) after a back and forth affair for the first 20 minutes of play. Brown hit a jumper to open the second half scoring for Hilbert, but the Hawks’ offense went cold and they found themselves in a fifteen-point deficit almost five minutes into action. Chris Parrott’s (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) three-pointer closed the gap to 12 points (75-63) with 4:17 left but the Hawks didn’t score again until Mike Maritato (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) made a layup with 0:26 seconds left. The Bobcats shot an impressive 68% from the floor with three players hitting double digits.
Hilbert (3-6, 0-3) faces their last non-conference opponent on Friday, December 17th when they host Nazareth College from the Empire 8 conference. Nazareth (6-2) is coming off a road loss at Ithaca College December 9th after winning the championship game at the Wendy’s Classic against the University of Rochester (62-60).
