CRESSON, PA – Jonathan Davison and Mario Williams continued their scoring spree to give Hilbert College their first AMCC win in men’s soccer this season. The Hawks (3-4-1) defeated Mount Aloysius College 3-2 and jumped into the upper tier of league standings with their win.
After a blink of the eye, Davison put the Hawks on the score board in the third minute following the opening kick. Hilbert held a 1-0 lead into intermission, but Patrick Chea stuffed the tying score past Paul Liedkie six minutes into the second half. Soon after, Williams went on a two-goal tear mid-way through the period to pad the Hawks lead before MAC’s Daniel Oliveira’s gave the Mounties a glimmer of hope in the 77th minute.
The Hawks were the aggressors, outshooting the hosts 20-12 with Williams and Davison accounting for 10 shots on goal. Jamie Greenwood and Logan Bodenschatz combined for 11 saves for the Mounties and Liedkie, earning his third win as many tries, made three saves for Hilbert.
The Hawks are on a three-game win streak heading into their biggest challenge this season when they square off against Medaille College (7-1, 1-0) in Hamburg September 25.
