HAMBURG, NY - The Hilbert College men’s soccer team captured their first win of the season when they beat Mount Aloysius College 2-1 October 8.  With the win, the Hawks secured their first AMCC victory (1-11-1, 1-3).  The Mounties drop to 3-10, and 0-5 in league play.

Hilbert dominated the field at the offensive end finally getting on the board when David Walkow found the back of the net at the 33-minute mark (Andy D’Amico assist).  Ten minutes later, D’Amico placed the ball in the left upper 90 off a scramble in front of the net when the goalie deflected ball to the junior’s feet.  Hilbert went into half time with a 2-0 lead after outshooting the Mounties 8-1 in 45 minutes.

After a more balanced second half, the visitors snuck one past Kamil Cislak at 72:42 when Austin Old set up Caleb Silva giving the Mounties hope for a comeback.    Hilbert held tight on defense, finished strong and celebrated the long over-due victory.

Hilbert has a few days off before they take on cross-town rival D’Youville College October 11 in Hamburg.  D’Youville enters the match 2-10 overall and 1-4 in league play.
