Hamburg, NY – Hilbert College’s Edward Heffron has been named as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for men’s soccer with the week ending October 17, 2010. The Hawks went 2-1 during the week with both victories staged against AMCC opponents. The Williamsville, NY left full back performed well under pressure at a time in the season when his team needed a focused leader on defense. Heffron, a starter all year, helped to minimize AMCC opponent scoring opportunities against D’Youville College (3-1 victory) and a 2-0 shutout against La Roche.

Not only has the Cardinal O’Hara Hawk been a strong and reliable defender, he has showed some offensive grit this past week as well. His week’s stat line: 3 shots, 1 shot on goal, and 1 assist on the goal to secure the win against La Roche.
At the 15-game mark, Heffron has two points on the season, and has taken 8 shots with 2 being on target.  Hilbert stands 3-2-1 in AMCC play and 3-11-1 overall. The Hawks are still in contention for the 6th place slot in the AMCC play-offs with three games remaining on their 2010 regular season schedule.
