HAMBURG, NY – Elmira College’s Brian Haschke scored on a direct kick at 48:00 to give the visiting Soaring Eagles a 1-0 win over the Hilbert College men’s soccer team on Tuesday. The loss drops the Hawks to 1-1 on the young season.

Both teams combined for 20 fouls in a physical battle played throughout the 90 minute stanza. Hilbert received strong play from forward Matt Begeal (Northville, NY/Wells) and Mike Erlwein (Jeffersonville, NY/Sullivan West) in the losing effort.

Hilbert keeper Joshua Griffey (Holland, NY/Holland) recorded one save on the day while Elmira’s Kwame Cobblah earned the two-save shutout.

The Hawks return to action tomorrow when they place host to local foe D’Youville College in a 5:00 pm contest.
