2012 Roster

Andy Dvornski is ready for his second season as head coach of the Golf program at Hilbert College. He is pumped to get out on the course so he can begin training all the new personalities, who bring new attitudes and approaches to the game. One thing will remain the same; Dvornski will continue to manage the squad’s course etiquette and sportsmanship while improving their individual skills training at the Gowanda Country Club.

The Hawks have one returning golfer from 2011. Senior Gary Gawera always worked on his game last season and his efforts should show improvement this fall.   Gawera will be the lone returner to carry the leadership and course experience for the rookie players this season.

Juniors Vincent Giamberdino, Ryan Tofil and sophomore Ryan Ratajczak will dress for the course for the first time this fall.  Giamberdino will continue to play on the college’s club hockey team during the winter months and  Ratajczak and  Tofil will stretch their talents from the volleyball court to the greens.  They are joined by four transfer student-athletes and one true freshman making the Golf team the most inexperienced squad on campus. But, don’t let ‘rookie’ status confuse you, seniors Clinton Brown, Karl Blomback bring additional maturity and experience as does junior Trevor Schmidt. Sophomore Jason Tabaczynski and freshman Vincent Giamberdino round out the 2012 squad. Besides Gawera, Giamberdino is the only other Hawk with playing experience at the GCC from his high school days representing Eden High School.

The Hawks open at the Bradford Invitational September 1 just prior to them hosting their third annual Hilbert Invitational at Gowanda Country Club September 7. Before they head to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship match, Hilbert will participate in the Penn State Behrend Invitational on September 20 (Peek n’Peak), at the Medaille Invitational, September 22 (Glen Oak CC) and October 3 at the Tri-County CC in the Spartan Shootout, hosted by D’Youville College. Again this fall, the AMCC Championship match will be played at the Oak Tree Country Club in Middlesex, OH October 14 and 15.
