Behrend Captures Second Annual Hilbert Invitational

NORTH COLLINS, NY – Penn State Behrend’s Matt Gurska posted a 76 to capture individual top medal honors at the second annual Hilbert College Invitational played at the Gowanda Country Club September 9. The Lions from Erie, PA also fired the best low score (311) on the par 72 course to take away the team championship. Hilbert’s John Nowak shot a 94 to lead the Hawks in the five-team event.

The Behrend squad took the top four spots before Bradford’s Tyler Lebesky interrupted the party. Besides Gurska, Dante Uetica (77), Kevin Korebel (79) and Zach Polanski (79) finished in the top four slots with their fifth golfer shooting an 82, one stroke behind Lebesky.  Bradford (343), Medaille (359), D’Youville (394) and Hilbert (409) rounded out the top five squads.

The Hawks had a tough day on the course. Pat Brooks tied for 19th shooting a 100 while Gary Gawera hit for 107. Mitch Rojek and Jim Pernick finished the day with a 108 each.

Hilbert next travels to Tri-County Country Club September 13 to compete in the Spartan Shootout hosted by D’Youville College.
