Hilbert Basketball Players Receive ECAC Honors

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College basketball players Sam Gioia (West Seneca West/West Seneca, NY) and Autumn Lee-Jeffries (Holy Angels/Buffalo, NY) have been named to the ECAC Honor Roll for the week ending Dec. 1.
Gioia, a junior point guard, scored 20 of his game high 25 points in the first half in last Tuesday’s 70-58 win over Alfred University. The 5’9 Gioia was 8-12 from the field, including 5-6 from behind the arc and 4-6 from the foul line. He also dished out six assists, grabbed three rebounds and had two steals while playing 39 minutes for the Hawks (1-2).
Lee-Jeffries scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in Hilbert’s come from behind win Nov. 25 over visiting Alfred University. The 6’1 sophomore forward also contributed six blocks and three steals as the Lady Hawks came from 16 down in the second half to beat the Saxons 48-47 and improve to 2-1 on the year.
