Bradford Sweeps Hilbert

The Hilbert College baseball team dropped a double header to the University of Pittsburg at Bradford on April 15, 2009. The Hawk’s record falls to 3-21 overall and 1-11 in AMCC play.
In game 1, Bradford opened up a 9-0 lead on Hilbert and did not allow the Hawks a hit through five innings.
In the sixth inning, the Hawks got on the board led by Brandon Brown’s (Lyondonville, NY/LA Webber) two run home run. Frank Simmeth (Cheektowaga, NY/St. Mary’s) and and Ryan LaCorte (Cheektowaga, NY/JFK) drove in the other Hilbert runs in the inning.
Bradford would add five runs in the top of the seventh to push the lead to 14-4.
In game 2, Hilbert managed just 5 hits and trailed 17-0 before Patrick Lagueras (Rochester, NY/C.G. Finney) drove in freshman Paul Coleman (Buffalo, NY/Cardinal O’Hara) for Hilbert’s lone tally.
The Hawks will host D’Youville College April 17.
