Hawks Fall To Nationally Ranked Mavericks

HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College men’s volleyball team came out hot in the first set, but ultimately fell to nationally ranked (10th) Medaille College 3-0 on February 7. 

Hilbert stayed in the battle, rallying many times, before dropping to the Mavericks 27-25 in the first set. Fred Sickau {in photo to right} paced the Hawk offense with seven kills and Ryan Ratajczak played solid defense earning eight digs. 

Medaille put the match away in the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-13.

Sickau finished the night with nine kills for the Hawks, followed by teammate Adam Weaver with five kills and seven digs.  Ratajczak added 11 digs for the match and Stephen Phillips passed for 17 assists.

The Hawks are back in action this weekend, when they travel to Stevens University in a UVC crossover weekend tournament.
