PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche College men’s soccer team captured a 3-0 victory over visiting Hilbert College Sunday, October 16 in a rescheduled contest played at Shaler Area High School’s turf field. Junior Ed Sarcione led the Hawks offense with seven of the team’s 12 shots as the blue and white drop to 1-5 in AMCC play. With a balanced offensive attack, La Roche outshot the Hawks 26-12 and improved to 3-2-1 to claim 5th place in league standings.

With less than 5 minutes to click off the game clock, Philip Ross scored the game winner when he hit the back of the net past Kamil Cislak.  Just before half time, Yousef Barqawi set up Ross again for his second score of the day at 41:07. The final strike occurred nine minutes into the second half when Nick Showman’s shot was blocked and Bryan Weimerskirch headed it in.

Up next for the Hawks is an away contest at Penn State Behrend October 19 before they return home to honor their seniors Saturday, October 22 (Penn State Altoona). Hilbert closes out the season October 25 when they face cross-town and top-seeded Medaille College October 25 at All-High Stadium.
