BRADFORD, PA – In a neutral site location, the Hilbert Hawks hosted Penn State Altoona April 28 at Pitt-Bradford as both teams scramble to complete their AMCC baseball schedule prior to exams and graduation. Altoona swept the Hawks 13-1 and 15-0 dropping the Hawks to 3-12 in AMCC league play. Junior Matt Militello (Depew, NY/Lancaster) earned the solo RBI for the Hawks for the day.

Altoona quietly crept away from the Hawks in game one. The Lions scored a run every other inning until the top of the 7th when they exploding with 8 runs off 4 hits taking a commanding 13-1 lead. Hilbert’s only run for the game (day) was when Nick Sherman (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster)hit a single putting him on base and a passed ball moved him to second before Militello’s RBI sent him home in the 5th inning. Altoona had 14 hits scoring 13 runs pushing them to the win.
In game two, the Hawks were held scoreless while Altoona lit the board each inning except for the 3rd and 5th. Hilbert finished with three hits with only one walk and four strike outs.
Hilbert closes the season out on Saturday, April 30 when they host Pitt-Greensburg at Erie Community College.
